SportzWorkz was cofounded in 2004 by two colleagues at IMG Media (then called TWI) in New Delhi. Gaurav, a producer, had worked on multiple sports, from Test Cricket to India’s first ATP Tennis Open, as well as Hockey, Football, and Motorsports. Vishal, an editor, had spent countless days (and nights) in edit suites, studios, and graphic houses to bring alive host broadcasts, highlights, chat shows, weekly magazines, and nightly news programming. While sharing drives between hotels, airports, and locations across India, the two bonded over a shared desire to find ways to better serve sports fans.
Their first gig came overseas in Kenya, covering future big names such as MS Dhoni in a cricket tournament. From there, the duo never looked back. In a value-driven market like India, finding cost-efficient ways to produce live coverage for sports other than Cricket became their next frontier. SportzWorkz soon became known for bridging the gap between sport federations and broadcasters, both in India and abroad. Moving into new sports codes and innovating event formats was the focus during the second half of the last decade. Volleyball, Cue Sports (Billiards & Snooker), and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) further expanded the portfolio, establishing SportzWorkz as the trusted partner for new event promoters in the Subcontinent.
In 2020, the pandemic raised the bar on live remote production. What began as filming in bubbles has today evolved into multi-city host broadcasts with commentators based in Europe and graphics being added downstream to a dozen global media partners, reaching a billion households. Today, having endured the ups and downs of a good sporting contest, Vishal and Gaurav are still driven to find better (read: cheaper or faster) ways to tell a story. Please get in touch to explore how SportzWorkz can help you better serve fans in India, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
